Subterranean Ball – Podcast

Our latest Podcast – The Subterranean Ball, is based on a little known event at a Mine in Gosforth Newcastle, owned by the Reverend Ralph Henry Brandling ‘A genuine English Country Gentleman’. After searching for coal for four years they eventually dug deep enough to find a suitable seam. To celebrate the event, the Reverend held a ball underground for workers, their families and the local gentry. This podcast is the Hive Storytellers interpretation of what may have happen.

Well Done Delphine and John

Congratulations to Delphine and John. The research John has been doing into the 6th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers has uncovered a number of photographs of the soldiers who were members of the battalion. Delphine took up the mantle to create portraits of some of the soldiers. She has successfully had two of them selected to be part of The Northumberland Open Exhibition 2026 being exhibited at Woodhorn Museum, on show from 14th February to 10th May 2026. https://www.northeastmuseums.org.uk/woodhorn/whats-on/the-northumberland-open-exhibition-2026

We are looking at other opportunities to exhibit these portraits and will let you know…
