Summer Trail – South Shields

Hive Storytellers have been invited to create a FREE Fantastical Audio Trail at the Promenade in South Shields as part of The Cultural Spring’s 2024 timetable of arts based projects. School Workshops- Marine Park Primary

We had a great time at Marine Park Primary School with Year 5 creating new characters for our Interactive Audio Trail that will be taking place on July 6 & 7 on South Shields Promenade. Thanks to Cultural Spring for funding and support at the workshop.

100 Not Out – Script in Hand

8th May 2024 Thank you to everyone that came along to our script in hand performance of ‘100 Not Out’ ‘100 Not Out’ is an audio drama, written as part of South Tyneside’s commemoration of 100 years from the end of WW1 in 2018. It is inspired by a South Shields seafaring family, the Bays. We follow the joys and tribulations of a family in the aftermath of WWI. The play, written by Lorna Windham, used research from The South Tyneside Remembers volunteers. Really proud of our performers including our live SFX. New Podcast Recording

We had a great time at Harbourmaster Productions, starting to record our new audio drama for podcasting. We have some more to do in the next few weeks, the the editing and production. We’ll let you know when it will be available to listen to.

We have a winner

Congratulations to Martin for winning our anagram draw. Thanks to Catherine and Emma for picking the winning entry. The answer was Winter Quests. We want to thank everyone who took part in the trail, created and decorated the posts and doors, Tyneside Community Wood Shed, South Tyneside Youth Services and Liberty Hodes as well as Cultural Spring and South Tyneside Council for funding the trail.

Winter Trail – North Marine Park

Summer meet up

It was lovely to see so many of our members at our summer get together. We had Afternoon Tea at The Clifton Café in South Shields on 12th August, celebrating all the hard work everyone has put into the podcasts and trails we have created so far this year. We look forward to the future with some exciting plans and new projects.
